Catchy Short Title for a Screenplay

by Screenwriter Simon J. Michael

If you can give the audience an idea of what the movie is about in a couple of words then you've got yourself a winning title for your screenplay. I'm sure you've looked at the movie listings trying to figure out what to watch. Now imagine you saw these two titles: Killer Ants and Untraceable. Well instantly you'd know what the first movie is about, whereas the second movie you'd have no idea what it is about.
Catchy short titles stay in people's minds. After all, the movie needs to bring in viewers - and one way this happens is when people tell their friends to go see one that they liked. Just recently my friend was telling me about a movie he liked but he couldn't remember the name of it or the actors in it so I didn't have enough information to be able to go see it myself.

Short titles are also important for the Movie Marquee. Long titles simply don't fit on the signs.
