So what is a synopsis exactly and why do I need one?
A synopsis of your screenplay is usually less than three pages and gives people a clear overview
of what your screenplay is about - highlighting what makes it bigger and better than other film scripts.
The first reader of a movie studio is required to write a synopsis of the scripts he reads.
You make his job easier by having a clear understanding of what goes into a synopsis.
In one very important way writing your own synopsis will help you learn what points you
need to hit in order to make your screenplay marketable. And it doesn't hurt that you'll be
pleasing the first reader giving your script a major boost!
Also some people who you query to submit your screenplay to will ask for you to submit a synposis first
and if your synopsis is weak then they will assume your screenplay is weak as well. That's why it's
important to make sure your synopsis opens doors for you by letting your story shine!
